A change of cameras has been on my mind for at least the last year. I bounced back and forth between the different mirrorless options. Looking at different models across these brands: Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Olympus. My final decision was the Olympus OMD EM1 Mark ii. I made this decision based on a few factors, each of which beat out the competition for what my needs are now. First was the overall feeling of the camera in my hand, beating out the Fujifilm and Sony crop sensors I looked at. The second was size, price, and availability of lenses, beating out the full frame Sony options. Finally the choice for Olympus over the Panasonic was simply based on the deal I was able to get on the EM1 Mark ii compared to the G9. Other benefits to the camera compared to my D750 are in camera stabilization, EVF, up to 60 fps, and incredible autofocus features. In addition to this body I picked up the m4/3 equivalent lenses to my previous Nikon lenses. These were the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 pro and the Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8. In the past few weeks I have been able to get out in between papers and exams to shoot a few photos. Images can be seen below:
Not only have I been able to start my weekly “vlog” posts to youtube again, but I have also pulled my DSLR out for some stills three nights in a row!
Starting this last sunday, July 28th, I have begun to schedule myself to weekly post a video of me cycling, skateboarding or even some sort of minimalist practice! My videos can be found here:
